Indian Army (ITBP) personnel make a rope bridge to rescue pilgrims near Gaurikund after flood and landslide in Uttarakhand, India.

Rescue efforts picked up steam in flood-hit Uttarakhand, with 62,000 people having been evacuated by road and air till Sunday. However, 22,000 are still stranded in Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts. Over 65 choppers and 10,000 army and paramilitary personnel are engaged in the rescue operations following one of the worst calamities that hit the hill state last week.
